Poles, Inc.®offers a large selection of treated hardwood plugs that can be used to fill holes in all types of wood products. Telephone poles, wooden bridges, railroad ties, decks, fences, piers, railroad trestles, piling, wooden utility poles, and any timber item that has a hole in it that needs to be filled. Our plugs are either treated wood plugs or pressure treated wood plugs. We only sell plugs that have been treated with American Wood Protection Association (AWPA) approved wood preservatives such as: Copper Naphthenate, CuN, CU NAP, Cu-Nap, Chromated Copper Arsenate, CCA, or Alkaline Copper Quat, ACQ. These preservatives are listed in P36, P8, P26, P27, or P23 of the AWPA Book of Standards. Treated wood plugs themselves do not treat the hole, plugs only seal the hole. To prevent future decay and insect attack you will need to apply a wood preservative. Click here for our wood preservative options that can be used to fill and treat the holes.
Typically, a hole is filled with a wood plug that is 1/16" larger than the diameter of the hole that is being filled. This ensures a tight fit. Click here to review our treated hardwood plug size chart. Some common uses of our preservative treated hardwood plugs, include filling wood pole inspection holes, hardware removal holes, holes that were drilled in the wrong place, wood preservative treatment holes, utility line reconfiguration projects, plus many other uses.
We package our wood plugs in durable and convenient plastic pails. Many wood pole inspection contractors prefer plastic pails instead of boxes for use in the field. Pails help keep the plugs dry and secure under harsh conditions. The one and five gallon pail sizes are perfect for any size job, large or small.
